Pair of paintings with an epic subject in the style of the Venetian School of painting from the second half of the 18th century. The inspiration for the vast majority of works from this period is undoubtedly Giambattista Tiepolo: his style is characterized by the use of light tones that give the paintings great luminosity, the speed with which the works were created thanks to a rapid application of color, and the spatial composition of the scenes, which, thanks to perspective, creates large and airy spaces.
This pair of paintings reflects the aforementioned characteristics, but innovates them, approaching a more neoclassical style.
The first canvas depicts an epic subject in a gallant manner: immersed in a lush, almost Arcadian rural setting, with classical architecture in the background, a couple is engaged in a moment of affection, observed by two figures hidden behind them.
The second canvas, however, shows a later moment in the story: the three men are ready to resume their journey, with the vessel waiting behind them, and the woman, depicted dramatically, reacts with surprise.
