Biography:

Federico Quatrini, born in Milan on September 21, 1916, arrived in Albisola immediately after the war, after his initial experiences as a painter in Milan and his first exhibition of paintings and drawings held in Venice in 1939. He then moved to Albisola and began exploring ceramics. He was then drawn to sculpture, firing his clay works in the kilns of Pozzo Garitta, owned by Bianco d'Albisola.
In 1949, he debuted as a ceramist, presenting some of his works, unique pieces, in a solo exhibition in Albisola and at the Galleria Cairola in Milan.
In 1952, he participated in the National Ceramics Competition in Messina, in 1954 in the Master Ceramicists Exhibition at the Galleria San Fedele in Milan, and in 1956 in the International Ceramics Competition in Faenza.
Driven by a deep religious faith, he created numerous religious works, including the large Stations of the Cross for the chapel of the Bishop's Complex of Vigevano, which was exhibited at the Galleria Cairola in Milan in 1957.
In the 1950s, he also frequented the Albisola workshops of "Ce.AS." owned by Pietro Rosso, Pietro Mantero, and Angelo Platino, the Jolanda Schiavi kiln, the "Pozzo Garitta" kiln, and La Fenice.
In 1960, he presented a bronze statue at the Premio Citta di Forlì, and from that same year onward, he participated in every edition of the Albissola Ceramics Festival, where he was awarded a gold medal in 1961.
In 1962, he participated in the Biennale d'Arte Sacra in Vigevano and the International Exhibition of Monza.
In 1963, he was invited by the municipality of Albissola Marina to participate, along with other leading ceramists, in the construction of the Lungomare degli Artisti.
In the early 1960s, he created several interesting artistic ceramic monotypes at Vincenzo Bortolotti's Milanese workshops.
In 1964, he was given a solo exhibition at the Galleria San Fedele in Milan.
During the same period, he created a white monochrome bas-relief depicting the Stations of the Cross for the Parish Church of Albissola Marina and collaborated with Eliseo Salino's "San Giorgio" in Albisola.
In the 1980s, he was invited to create several ceramic works at the Albisola factory "Fabbrica Casa Museo Giuseppe Mazzotti 1903."
Federico Quatrini died in Savona in 1991.
