After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Florence, Ugo Cipriani was prolific from the 1920s onwards, particularly after his exile from Mussolini's Fascist Italy to France. It was in Paris that he became known and appreciated for his Art Deco sculptures with geometric faces and a nervous mass of hair.
