Resulting from the Dogon craftsmanship (tribes of Mali), this work represents a warrior or warrior spirit inspired by the cosmogony of the Dogon people, unique and specific to their culture & mythology.
Its particular shape, standing and holding weapons followed by a horned mask makes it an effigy between popular art and ethnic sacred art, its posture making more of a fetish, or at least, a decorative work going in this direction, rather than a ritual statue.
In very good general condition, this gilded bronze sculpture is unique; the Dogon people are instructed to only make bronze by lost wax casting, in unique terracotta and clay molds that are destroyed during the unmolding, attesting to the craftsmanship quality and uniqueness of the works.
Perfect for a collector of ethnic tribal art from West Africa, or amateur of Dogon crafts.
