Yves Alix trained at the Académie JulianAcadémie Julian and the Beaux Arts de Paris. In 1909, he joined the Ranson academy, whereHe worked alongside Roger de la Fresnaye.He collaborated on the decoration of the ceiling of the Théâtre des Champs Elysées byMaurice Denis from 1910 to 1912. From 1912Yves Alix took part in the Salon des Indépendants, where he became a member of the committee in1919 and at the Salon d'Automne . His first solo exhibitions followedfrom 1914 at Drouet , Bernheim and others in Paris , then in Brussels ,Amsterdam He was close to the Cercle de l'Art Moderne group led by the painterKickert with Gromaire , Segonzac, Favory ,Leger , Braque , Le Fauconnier etc... and began exhibitingwith this group as early as 1913Alix moves away from the Nabis of 1912and became interested in Cubism. Brittany was the site of his early researchduring his first stays in Perros Guirec / Ploumanach.show his preoccupation with synthesisof different elements and a generous touch. The use of brownsbrowns and red ochres are typical of his work, which evolves towards a constructive cubism.cubism. At the same time, he took on large-scale ornamental compositions. Hispictorial research evolved towards expressionism in the30s, before his palette lightened after the war, giving pride of place to lightto light and color in an approach that was increasingly drawn to abstractionto abstraction, as in the work we present.
