Still Life With Sèvres Tea Service And Flowers By Ignaz Schönbrunner (b. 1871)
Still life depicting a Sèvres porcelain tea service, flowers in a copper vase and an antique silver box, by Ignaz Schönbrunner (1871 Vienna - 1963 Wiener Neustadt).
Originally from a family of painters, he was the son of painter Ignaz Schönbrunner (1835-1921), hence his nickname "the Young". He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In addition to portraits and landscapes, he mainly painted still lifes with crockery and flowers. The painters Josef (1831-1905), Karl (1832-1877) and Franz Xaver Schönbrunner (1845-1903) were his uncles, and the painter Johann Schönbrunner his grandfather. Franz Anton Coufal (1927-1999), Austrian sculptor and engraver, was one of his pupils from 1949 to 1953.
Schönbrunner married Hélène Emma Antonia (née Roux; April 3, 1872 - January 26, 1936) in 1895; they had one daughter. Academic painter Anton Joseph Valentin Roux (1835-1901) and his wife Emma (née Nicolits; 1846-1880) were his parents-in-law. Animal painter Oswald Roux was a cousin of his wife.
