Baroque Rhénan-mosan Four Chairs, Carved Oak, 18th Century - Baroque , Rococo Style
Rhenish-Mosan Baroque - Four chairs, carved oak, 18th century(Baroque - Rococo - Aachen-Liège style - solid oak - set of four - 18th century)
Four imposing solid oak occasional chairs in the Aachen-Liège style - one of the most singular expressions of 18th-century European furniture art, in which French Louis XV form condenses with the material-heavy, exposed-wood craft tradition of the Mosan region to form an inimitable regional language. The double-bar back with sinuous limbs, the flowery corbeille crest with lateral volutes, the arched legs with knee carving, the undulating belt centered by a carved rosette and the turned H-shaped crossbar form a coherent decorative program - executed without veneer, without applications, in the only natural grain of oak. The set of four constitutes one of the rarest conservation forms in this category.
