Kazakh Carpet - Fachralo.caucasus. Circa 1920. 245 X 147 Cm
Superb Kazakh Fachralo rug. The large family of Kazakh rugs is divided into some fifteen distinctive groups, including the Fachralo. They are distinguished by their composition and motifs. On this one, the shape of a Mirhab can be seen at either end of the central field, making it a prayer rug. Other qualities of early Kazakh production include a remarkable quality of wool, soft, almost silky, and extremely deep, luminous hues.
The velvet reaches a thickness of around 1 cm for optimum comfort.
Two backgrounds share the central field, madder red and saturated indigo midnight blue.
The entangled geometric borders protect the central field like motifs evoking protection.
Piece referenced in the book Le tapis du Caucase published by Office du Livre (see photos).
The carpet is in a state of preservation close to a miracle.
Exclusively vegetal hues of infinite purity.
A true Museum piece!
