Aubusson Tapestry

Artist: D'après J.b Pillement
Aubusson tapestry "Verdure aux pagodes" in wool and silk from a cartoon by *Jean-Baptiste Pillement Louis XV XVIIIth century.
In the foreground, a fantastical animal grasps a goose in its mouth, the whole brightened up by numerous red flowers.
In the background, a pagoda standing on a rampart, from which river water flows, surrounded by a palm tree on one side and a tree with red fruits on the other.
Several buildings can be seen in the background, one of which is particularly striking: a temple on a rocky mound with trees.
Very good condition of the tapestry and colors, allowing it to be unlined, only a braid has been placed with its hanging system.

A similar tapestry is reproduced on page 130 of the book "les tapisseries d'Aubusson et de Felletin.(see photos)
