From an early age, the sculptor showed a passion for the arts, which led him to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris .
There, he was taught by Justin-Marie Lequien (1796-1881) .
There, he honed his talent and developed a style influenced by the great masters .
During the course of his career, he approached sculpture from many angles : allegorical subjects , mythological scenes , busts , bas-reliefs , medallions and also animal models .
In 1848 , he exhibited at the Salon , with a wax bas-relief entitled "Ascension of the Virgin" .
He exhibited there mainly works in terracotta , until 1874 .
