François Auguste Hippolyte Peyrol (1856-1929)
François Auguste Hippolyte Peyrol was a French sculptor , born on June 10 , 1856 , in Paris .
He came from a family of artists , being the son of the sculptor and foundryman Hippolyte Peyrol and Juliette Bonheur , the younger sister of the renowned artists Rosa and Isidore Bonheur .
Peyrol's artistic career began at the French Artists'Exhibition in 1880 .
He became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1883 .
His recognition within the art world grew steadily over the years , culminating in an Honorable Mention in 1883 , followed by various medals : a third-class medal in 1888 , a second-class medal in 1892 , and finally a first-class medal (hors concours) in 1894 . In 1896 , he was elected a member of the jury at the Salon , further solidifying his status in the world of sculpture .
In 1898 , he was appointed professor of sculpture at the National School of Decorative Arts .
His participation in the 1928 Olympic Games in the "Sculpture" category , with his work entitled "The Struggle" (depicting a man defeating a lioness) , testifies to his commitment to art .
