Circular Box In Burr Wood And Gilded Brass With Medal-style Portrait Of Louis XVIII, Early 19th Century
Restoration-period (1815-1830) circular burrwood box, adorned in the middle with a medal-like repoussé brass portrait of Louis XVIII, inscribed "LOUIS XVIII ROI DE FRANCE".
The inside of the lid and the blond tortoiseshell banding, intact.
There are a few knocks, deformations to the brass, and old restorations; we refer here to the photographs that best document these damages of time.
This box came to us with a lock of hair inside, a widespread practice in the 19th century: we are selling it as is.
Beautiful dimensions: 10 cm in diameter, 3 cm high.
Very fine patina.
