"Aedicule Frame, Carved Wood, In The Style Of The Quattrocento/15th Century, Italy, 19th Century"
Beautiful carved wooden frame called "aedicule" in the style of the Quattrocento, Italy, early 19th century. This type of frame takes up the typical ornamental elements of 15th century frames, composing true condensations, in miniature, of the civil architecture of the High Renaissance (monumental doors, triumphal arches, loggies, etc.). Corinthian pilasters engaged with falling floral garlands, projections, a semicircular arch decorated with friezes of dentils and diamond points, an entablature inherited from Greco-Roman Antiquity (architrave, frieze, cornice), spandrels animated by male heads in high relief, compose the architectural vocabulary of this beautiful example. Regilded in places; we have decided to leave it to the future purchaser to keep or not these highlights visibly made with bronze powder. Losses and accidents, documented as best as possible in the photographs. The drawing is contemporary in the mannerist style, used to "dress" the frame and is not included unless otherwise requested.
