A very fine Louis XV period earbowl in first-title sterling silver (916%).
Twice hallmarked with an almost illegible master silversmith's hallmark (crowned EM) and twice with a silver title hallmark typical of Lausanne: XI surmounting a D for eleven-denier sterling silver (916%).
The purity of the silver was at the time expressed endeniers , pure silver being twelve deniers ,
The city hallmark is absent . One side of the bowl is engraved with a small period DC monogram, while the other side is engraved with large interlaced initials EM, dating from the nineteenth century.
It is in impeccable condition. Weighs 300 grams.
