Count Charles Ferdinand de Condamy was born in Gamaches, Somme, in 1847. He received the classical education of a young aristocrat.
Introduced to the fine arts at an early age, he later became a pupil of the painter Louis-Ernest Barrias. Gifted with a gift for observation and a taste for depicting movement, he soon moved away from academicism to devote himself, in a spontaneous style, to depicting his other passions: hunting, horses and dogs.
Owner, between 1875 and 1897, of a crew, "Le Rallye Picard", he was also lieutenant of venery in Amiens.
His talent was widely recognized and much appreciated by the European aristocracy.
