French sculptor, Edouard Cazaux (1889-1974) is best known as a ceramist for his Art Deco works.
From a long line of potters in southeastern France, the young Edouard Cazaux was barely 10 years old, already turning clay in his father's workshop. In 1912, he moved to Paris to perfect his dual education in ceramics and sculpture, taking courses at the École des Beaux Arts and the Ecole de Sèvres.
In 1937, at the Paris International Exhibition, he was awarded a gold medal.
Edouard Cazaux is known for his use of Norton stoneware. His glazed vases in norton stoneware were presented at the Rouard gallery in 1946.
Alongside his contemporaries Decoeur, Lenoble, Buthaud and Mayodon, the artist developed a decorative ceramics on themes inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity, religion or bestiary.
