Meissen, “pug” Porcelain Paperweight, 19th Century
Meissen polychrome porcelain paperweight representing a pug, Napoleon III style, dating from the 4th quarter of the 19th century. This desk object made entirely of porcelain is decorated with a lying pug resting on a scalloped base. Base with floral decoration in lilac and orange colors on a white background, decorated with small midnight blue ships highlighted with gold. Base decorated with a garland of small red ochre flowers. A gold net surrounds the dog under its paws. Traces on the back of the two crossed blue swords corresponding to the stamp of the Meissen Manufactory.
