Renowned French ceramic artist. Studied first at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In the 1940s, he worked briefly with the famous Swiss ceramist Jean Derval. In 1946, Capron founded his own ceramics studio in Vallauris, on the French Riviera. The region had already been renowned for its pottery since Picasso's arrival in the 1940s. The ceramic artist developed his distinctive style there, blending organic forms with abstract motifs. In the 1950s and 1960s, Capron enjoyed growing success, exhibiting his work in prestigious galleries and museums around the world. His creations, ranging from vases to ceramic tiles to furniture, are distinguished by their vibrant colors and bold geometric patterns.
