Pendule “mufles De Lion” Néo-classique Palais Royal

Unusual clock, very architectural in the spiritof Neo-classicism, from the Napoleon III period signed on the mechanism"G. PHILIPPE 66 PALAIS ROYAL 67", clockmaker referenced in the Tardy,dictionary of French clockmakers. In finely chiseled gilded bronze,made up of two solid parts, the upper part decorated with lion's pawfeet rests on a richly worked base in a concave shape decorated withGreek friezes.

The lighter upper part, openworked by its many geometric patternedsurfaces, accommodates on its sides lion's muzzles which are connectedby a long torus of laurels. They frame the bronze dial set withenameled cartouches, the dial is protected by a domed glass. At thetop, in the shape of a dome, is surmounted by a vase on ram's feetwhose handles are equipped with a movable ring.
