Pendule “mufles De Lion” Néo-classique Palais Royal
Unusual clock, very architectural in the spirit
of Neo-classicism, from the Napoleon III period signed on the mechanism
"G. PHILIPPE 66 PALAIS ROYAL 67", clockmaker referenced in the Tardy,
dictionary of French clockmakers. In finely chiseled gilded bronze,
made up of two solid parts, the upper part decorated with lion's paw
feet rests on a richly worked base in a concave shape decorated with
Greek friezes.
The lighter upper part, openworked by its many geometric patterned surfaces, accommodates on its sides lion's muzzles which are connected by a long torus of laurels. They frame the bronze dial set with enameled cartouches, the dial is protected by a domed glass. At the top, in the shape of a dome, is surmounted by a vase on ram's feet whose handles are equipped with a movable ring.
Original movement without modification, hour and half-hour strike on old bell.
