Regency Style Flat Desk In Violet Wood, With Pulls - Late 19th Century
Very elegant Regency-style flat desk, French work from the late 19th century, in violet wood veneer varnished with buffer.
The top, sheathed in its original brown leather framed by a fine gilded frieze and adorned with a central motif, is encircled by a gilded bronze lingotière. It opens on the front with three drawers on curved rails, embellished with finely chased bronze handles and key escutcheons.
A sought-after peculiarity, the desk features two side pulls also sheathed in leather, offering an additional work surface.
The scalloped belt and arched legs, finished with gilded bronze sabots, underline the elegance of the Regency style. Very fine violet wood veneer work arranged in herringbone pattern on an oak frame, typical of quality Parisian production at the end of the 19th century.
A piece of furniture that's both decorative and functional, ideal as a desk or side table in a refined interior.
