Reliquary. Italy. 18th Century. Silver And Gilt Bronze
Architecture in the form of a small altarpiece for domestic or conventual worship. Molded profile and upper crown adorned with a bird representing the Holy Spirit, surrounded by rays. The central body features an image of the Virgin Mary (whose invocation cannot be identified). The background, decorated in somewhat worn, pinkish tones, adds visual depth and highlights the figure of the Virgin. The rest of the decoration, composed of vegetal elements and cherubs, is in the formal language of the late Baroque, a movement to which this piece can be linked. Of a marked Italian taste, probably originating from the south of the Italian peninsula.
