Depicted in her capacity as a Doctor of the Church, the Carmelite mystic stands, dressed in the habit of her order, holding the quill with which she writes down her visions as well as the book of her writings. At her side, a cherub lends balance and dynamism to the composition.
The remarkable quality of the modeling is particularly evident in the fluidity of the drapery and the finesse of the anatomical details of the hands and face. The figure adopts a slight contrapposto, which lends her dynamism and elegance.
She rests on a pedestal adorned with rocaille motifs and a frontal cartouche. The monochromatic white finish highlights the purity of the lines as well as the subtle play of light and shadow.
