The dish is made of hard kyushu porcelain. Underglaze cobalt-blue painted decoration depicting the sword surrounded by the Dragon (Kurikara), symbolizing Fudo Myoo. It is rare to find this type of decoration on porcelain from this period, as the Kurikara is usually depicted on weapons. The grazing light allows us to observe slight indentations carved (or molded before firing) into the porcelain. Japan, late 17th century Arita kilns. Diameter 22cm. Good condition, with a few small chips, as shown in the photos. No restoration. Fuku mark.
