Pair Of Painted Wood Directoire Armchairs 18th Century
Elegant and comfortable pair of Directoire armchairs in light gray painted beech, late 18th century. Their upside-down backs are decorated with five openwork columns and carved armrests resting on baluster brackets. Their seats, with straight molded crosspieces, rest on baluster-shaped front legs and saber-shaped back legs. The traditional upholstery has been redone (with the addition of small springs for greater comfort) and covered with a re-edition of toile de Jouy bistre on an ivory background "antique scenes" enhanced with light green passementerie.
