Large Panel Of Carved And Painted Wood Paneling With A Leaf Motif, 18th Century; W 152 Cm

A large, long horizontal panel of carved and painted wood dating from the 18th century. This decorative architectural element, likely originating from a lintel or the entablature of a paneled partition, features a bas-relief carving of a series of stylized acanthus leaves arranged in a symmetrical pattern.
The panel retains its original yellow ochre paint, which covers an earlier coat of paint, giving it a superb “original” patina. Thanks to its remarkable length, this panel has a monumental decorative presence while remaining understated; it can be installed above doors, as a wall frieze, or as a headboard....
Good condition, with some wear and paint loss; a few small areas where the wood is visible around the edges, as shown in the photos.
