Small 18th-century Bordeaux-style Chest Of Drawers Made Of Acacia Wood

A small, Bordeaux-style “tombeau” chest of drawers made of acacia wood, dating from the 18th century. Topped with a wooden top featuring a beak-of-corbin-molded edge, it opens at the front with four drawers arranged in three rows, two of which are in the top row. Its curved, scroll-cut crossbars rest on four shell-shaped legs. Its curved sides feature panels with intricate scrollwork. This small chest of drawers retains balanced and elegant proportions. Its warm, honey-toned patina—typical of acacia wood—makes it a charming and rare piece of furniture, as acacia is rarely used in cabinetmaking, except in the Bordeaux region and even then only sparingly.
