Wash painting depicting a young woman sitting under trees signed lower right H Boddington for Henry John Boddington (1811-1869) from the famous family of English painters the "Williams", he took his wife's name so as not to be confused with his family. He was a member of the Society of British Artists as well as the Royal Academy, he participated in numerous exhibitions presenting mainly views of rivers including the Thames, as well as picturesque landscapes.
