Paris Montmartre. Lucien Genin "rue Norvins"
Artist: Lucien Genin
Paris Montmartre. Lucien Genin. Gouache on cardboard "Rue Norvins" signed and located lower right Lucien Genin. Rue Norvins. 36 X 27.7 cm. French school.
Lucien Genin (1894-1953). After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, the young artist moved to Paris and settled in Montmartre. Here, he embarked on a career that was to pay vibrant tribute to this very special part of the capital, which adopted him. Our gouache is a perfect example of the work of this bohemian painter, whose talent was appreciated by a vast clientele during his lifetime.
At Lucien Genin's, the cobblestones of Montmartre take on the appearance of a checkerboard, ready to become the favorite playground of local toddlers.
But here, this checkerboard doesn't display sad colors, nor do the window shutters or storefronts that will soon be opening their doors to welcome Montmartreans.
Painted and patinated wood frame of the period. Good condition.
980 euros.
