Orthodox Triptych Enamelled Bronze, Imperial Russia, Before 19th Century Tou24tri001

IMPERIAL RUSSIA ORTHODOX RELIGION Antique enameled bronze triptych TOU24TRI001Rare enameled bronze devotional triptych, Imperial Russian work, pre-19th century. This precious devotional object, in portable format (11 x 10 cm open, excluding chain), is in the great tradition of early Russian travel icons. Intended to accompany its owner on his travels, it could be hung or simply placed, providing an intimate space for prayer in all circumstances. The central panel depicts the Virgin and Child, treated according to Orthodox iconographic canons, surrounded by a frame of intense polychrome enamels, dominated by deep blues and luminous greens. The finely molded side panels feature various scenes and holy figures, enlivened by a profusion of decoration typical of Russian religious art of the period. The whole piece is cast in bronze and richly enamelled, using a traditional technique that lends the object both brilliance and depth. The antique patina and visible wear to the enamels bear witness to its authenticity and age. This triptych is a fine example of Imperial Russian sacred art, both a collector's item and a spiritually charged piece, particularly sought after by connoisseurs of icons and ancient devotional objects.A rare and evocative piece, imbued with history and fervor.
