EXTREMELY RARE DUMONTHIER Rifle-Style Blowgun, 19th Century, 7 mm Caliber - Category D Firearm (No Permit Required)

Extremely rare breath-activated firing mechanism!

DUMONTHIER 1867 System

Just like a blowgun, the force of the breath propels the firing pin into the base of a black powder cartridge!

The pommel unscrews to reveal a seal and a concealed tube that activates the firing pin.

In good overall condition—the movable firing pin is present and intact.

Bears the manufacturer’s mark “E.L.”—with a mirrored “E” resting against an “L”; see photos of the engraving—most likely a trademark registered by DUMONTHIER in 1867.

This firearm is available for unrestricted ownership; if you are of legal age, you may purchase it. A valid ID check will be required at the time of sale.

The firing pin is in good condition, and the smoothbore barrel is in excellent internal condition.

The firing pin’s travel is long; the back of the firing pin cannot be removed from the butt plate—obviously to prevent the recoil from hitting your teeth...

The barrel is coated with black lacquer, as-is, with some chips; see photo.

The stock is sturdy and in good condition, complete with its movable ferrule, which is in good condition.

The metal parts are made of bronze and covered with bamboo wrappings; they are in good condition.

The shaft is straight and sturdy enough for walking...
