PAIR OF FLINTLOCK PISTOLS MARKED ‘RIPOLL’ ON THE TRUNKS

Overall length: 40.5 cm; Barrel length: 24.5 cm
Muzzle diameter: 15 mm

The barrels, with long, tapered sections tapering to a round muzzle, are chiselled with a raised band in the middle. They bear the mark of the gunsmith CAMS in a cartouche beneath a crown, and are decorated with inlaid brass stars and crosses.
The flintlock plates, known as ‘la miquelet’ style, are lightly engraved.
The cut brass fittings are engraved with line work; the counter-plates feature bundles of weapons.
Caps with long tails, the cap nails featuring grotesque figures.
Steel belt hooks.
Walnut grips, carved. Large engraved thumb pieces.
