Napoleon I in Military Campaign Dress – Gilt Bronze after E. Seurre, 19th Century. An Imperial Look! Be captivated by the presence of this bronze depicting the Emperor in his iconic pose. This work is based on the model by Charles Émile Seurre (1798-1858), whose monumental statue stood atop the Vendôme Column before being moved to the courtyard of the Hôtel des Invalides. Napoleon is represented here as Colonel of the Chasseurs à Cheval of the Imperial Guard, wearing his famous frock coat and bicorn hat with cockade. His legendary attributes are also present: his hand tucked into his waistcoat, the spyglass, the cavalry sword, and the Legion of Honor and medals.
