Pair Of Large Louis XIII - Louis XIV Style Armchairs With Flat Backs And Baluster Legs, 19th Century
A beautiful pair of large Louis XIII-Louis XIV style armchairs in solid walnut, dating from the second half of the 19th century. Each armchair rests on two baluster-shaped front legs and two square-sectioned rear legs. These are joined by a baluster-shaped H-shaped stretcher, as is the upper rail at the front. Each backrest is flat and high, slightly inclined outwards for added comfort. The armrests are topped with grotesque heads, each slightly different from the others. The seats are in good condition and remain very comfortable. The upholstery is also in good condition, although very slightly faded. It is enhanced by a beautiful studded finish in an antique gold color. Two identical chairs, upholstered in the same fabric, are for sale in our gallery, forming a set (see last photo). Dimensions: back height 116 cm, seat height 47 cm, width 67 cm, seat depth 54 cm, total depth 72 cm
