A very beautiful silvered bronze picture frame from the renowned firm of Alphonse Giroux, supplier to the Second Empire until 1867. This magnificent frame, dating from the Napoleon III period, rests on two scrolled feet, each surmounted by a stylized peacock. Its shoulder is adorned on each side with an angel's head. The pediment is decorated with a cartouche surrounded by garlands of foliage. The back of the frame has a stand allowing it to be placed on a piece of furniture. It can be disassembled using 13 small round-head screws (red arrows in photos 9 and 10), and a fourteenth screw with a flat, slotted head (blue arrow in photos 9 and 10). Please note some wear to the silvering as well as some perfectly normal scratches consistent with its age and use. This frame is sold without glass. The back bears the stamp " Mson Giroux Paris.
