Pair of Louis XIII style backless chairs in solid oak. Our chairs rest on four baluster legs connected by a square-section H-shaped stretcher and a crossbar at the front under the seat. The backs are wide and short, upholstered in fabric. Known as a "chair with a back" or "vergadin chair," it has no arms to allow ladies to sit comfortably despite their imposing and rigid farthingales. The seat is in good condition, as is the upholstery; it is corduroy with a beautiful fringed trim.
