Pair Of Busts, Biscuit Porcelain, Tharaud Limoges After Houdon, Brongniart Children
Artist: Manufacture Tharaud Goumot-labesse Limoges
Pair of busts representing the Brongniard children, Louise and Alexandre, after Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828). The original models were made in 1777. They are currently housed in the Louvre. Our busts were made of Limoges porcelain biscuit and mounted on blue porcelain bases embellished with gold trim, and are of exceptional craftsmanship. They come from the Tharaud Goumot-Labesse factory, owned by the son-in-law of Camille Tharaud, located at 11 Avenue Léon Blum in Panazol (near Limoges). Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1847) was the director of the Sèvres factory in 1800, a position he held until his death in 1847. He was the son of Théodore Brongniart (1739-1813), the renowned architect who designed the Palais Brongniart in Paris. Théodore was friends with Antoine Houdon. Louise Brongniart (1772-1845) through her marriage became Madame Naval de Saint-Aubin, then Marquise Picot de Dampierre (sister-in-law of General Auguste Henri Picot de Dampierre). Dimensions: total height 40 cm, base height 10 cm, base diameter 14.5 cm, width 23 cm, depth 15 cm. Shipping costs: please contact us.
