Group Of Bronze Partridges
Artist: Jules Moigniez (1835–1894)
A bronze group with a brown patina depicting two partridges in a naturalistic scene, the work of animal sculptor Jules Moigniez, whose signature "J. Moigniez" is visible on the base. The artist portrays two birds captured in a lively and spontaneous pose. The finely chiseled plumage and the quality of the casting reflect the expertise of Parisian workshops in the second half of the 19th century. A student and contemporary of the great animal sculptors of his time, Jules Moigniez followed in the tradition of French animal sculpture initiated by Barye, while developing a more delicate and decorative style.
