Fragment of an ancient terracotta relief depicting a beardless young man in profile.
The figure wears a remarkable headdress or a richly decorated ceremonial helmet, composed of bands with geometric patterns and a floral motif formed of leaves, which may evoke a laurel or olive wreath. A broad, striated section extends from the back of the head, which may correspond to a crest.
The treatment of the profile, the almond-shaped eye, and the headdress stylistically links this work to the Greek world of the late Classical and early Hellenistic periods.

Greek art or Magna Graecia, probably 4th century B.C., circa 400–300 B.C.

The ancient fragment consists primarily of the head and its hairstyle. The lower portion is a later reconstruction, created to complete the composition.
