" Blown Glass Hunting Cup With Large Ribs"
A blown glass hunting cup with a broadly ribbed body, made of colored glass. The decoration, achieved by blowing glass into a mold with large ribs, is typical of glass production in southwestern France between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. This type of cup is well documented in public collections: a very similar model, in colorless translucent glass, is held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux, where it is described as a Périgord hunting cup, blown in a similar mold. Our example is distinguished by its color and its elegant white rim, characteristic of regional glassmaking that sought both durability and aesthetics. Note: minor chips at the base
