18th-century Paris Porcelain Cup And Saucer – Decorated With Scattered Flowers – Collection
An elegant Paris porcelain cup and saucer dating from the late 18th century, circa 1775-1790. The set features a finely hand-painted decoration of polychrome floral bouquets known as "fleurs jetées" (thrown flowers), characteristic of Parisian production of this period. The motifs combine roses, blue flowers, and small leaves in a delicate and balanced palette. The rim of the cup and saucer is highlighted with a gilt, scalloped edge, typical of coffee services from the late Ancien Régime. The simple yet elegant form, as well as the quality of the decoration, places this piece within the production of Parisian workshops, possibly linked to the manufactories active around the rue Thiroux or the Faubourg Saint-Antoine. The underside of the cup and saucer bears a red painted mark in the shape of the letter "A," most likely a workshop or painter's mark, common on 18th-century Parisian porcelain.
