"Porcelain Toilet Service With Cornflower Motif, Louis XVI Period, Late 18th Century "
A lovely Paris porcelain toilet service decorated with cornflower motifs. The pitcher rests on a footed base, and the oblong basin is shaped like a boat. Both pieces are marked with the painted inscription "n300" on the base. In very good condition. The cornflower (an old name for the bluebell) decoration, dominated by blue and green highlighted with gold, was very fashionable during the reign of Louis XVI. The queen owned a large dinner service in this style. Basin: Length 33.5 cm, width 23.5 cm, height 10 cm. Ewer: Height 32 cm, diameter approximately 17 cm. A Louis XVI period piece, late 18th century.
