"Nyon Porcelain Cup, Late 18th Century, Switzerland"
A charming and delicate Nyon porcelain coffee cup and saucer dating from the late 18th century, each bearing a blue monogram symbolizing a fish. The two cups are distinct, like a pair of "alliances." The cup bears the inscription "Souvenir of a resident of the shores of Lake Geneva," while the saucer reads: "Friendship, which is in fact the only price." The saucer features a delicate floral design forming the monogram, which surrounds the monogram. The rims are decorated with a scattering of blue flowers. This piece dates from the Louis XVI or Directoire period. In excellent condition, it is a touching memento of this Swiss manufacturer.
