Ceramic Wall Sconce By Claude Cabanat.
Artist: Claude Cabanat (1949 - 2018).
Claude Cabanat (1949-2018) was a ceramicist who divided his time between the Sant Vicens workshop and his own studio near Perpignan. A typical example of 1970s work in the style of Roland Zobel, this ceramic wall sconce, "Soleil" (Sun), depicts a woman's face wearing a shawl, surrounded by a myriad of geometric elements representing the sun's rays. A unique feature is the way the point of the shawl extends beyond the thickness of the sconce, giving the piece a distinctive finish. It boasts beautiful warm tones in a range of shades from beige to dark brown. This high-quality piece is signed "NAT" (for Cabanat) on the lower edge. 1970s. Excellent condition. Diameter: 37 cm. Thickness: 1.5 cm.
