Antique Cut-glass Crystal Whisky Decanter, 1920-1930, Baccarat Style
Rare, large antique hand-cut crystal bar decanter, slender bottle-shaped with vertical cut sides and an imposing original faceted spherical stopper. The top is faceted, and the base is decorated with a 16-pointed star. The quality of the cut and the starry background evoke the production of major European crystal houses from the first half of the 20th century, the 1920s and 30s, a style very close to that of Baccarat. Unsigned and model unidentified. It may also recall certain creations by the Swedish designer Elis Bergh for Scandinavian glassworks of the same period. 31.5 cm high with the stopper, 25.5 cm without, 9 cm in diameter. Very good overall condition, clear crystal with no deposits. A few light scratches from use, a few small bubbles in the clay, a few discreet micro-chips on some edges and on the cork, as well as slight internal wear on the neck due to friction from the cork over time; overall, a harmonious and consistent piece for its age. Approximately 800-900g.
