Antique and beautiful 19th-century Iranian Qalamdan, made of papier-mâché, richly decorated (on all sides) with miniature paintings depicting a dignitary, probably Fatah Ali Shah, and his court on the lid, and various scenes of figures in landscapes and with animals. In good condition, a fine Orientalist collector's item. I believe there is a text in Thuluth script underneath, but it remains illegible to me. Length 28 cm, Width 6.4 cm, Height 4.5 cm.
