"Ball Gown In Pink Silk Rep Embroidered With Iridescent Sequins - Rolf & Cie - Paris Circa 1920-1925"
Circa 1920-1925, France. A stunning evening gown in pink silk rep embroidered with pearls and sequins by Maison Rolf & Cie in Paris, dating from the Roaring Twenties. The dress features thin straps, a low waist, and a blonde lace bodice accented with peplum trim, echoed at the shoulders. A blouson effect is achieved with a wide rosette at the waist. The design is inspired by Mayan art, which was fashionable during this period of enthusiasm for ethnic-inspired styles. Rich embroidery on pink silk rep features a geometric pattern alternating checks and diamonds, embroidered with iridescent sequins, mother-of-pearl beads, and gold thread. Veined leaves in iridescent celluloid accompany the movement of walking or dancing, such as the Foxtrot! The bodice is lined with cream silk pongee, stapled at the side. The fabrics are structurally in very good condition, although several sequins are missing. Excellent condition in terms of color and preservation. A dress to collect or wear. Measurements: Equivalent to French size 38-40. Shoulders 35 cm, bust 92 cm, waist 81 cm, length 132 cm, hips 100 cm.
