Quilted And Embroidered Bathrobe In Powder Pink Silk Satin - Japan Circa 1940-1950
Circa 1940-1950, Japan. Quilted and embroidered dressing gown in powder pink silk satin, labeled "Saito, Yokohama, Japan" with Mount Fuji in the background. Loose fit, long sleeves, crossover front, and pointed collar. Fully hand-quilted with small and large diamonds. Two patch pockets on the front and three large polychrome embroideries of flowers and birds in mercerized silk thread. Very lightweight dressing gown with a cream silk pongee lining (minor wear to the lining at the shoulders), and two belt loops, the belt being missing. The main flaw is the fraying of the satin on the right cuff (see last photo). Also note three or four tiny stains at the bottom, visible only with close attention (photo album available upon request). The piece has fresh colors and is in stable condition. Price reflects its value. Rare item! Dimensions: Equivalent to French size 38. Shoulders 45 cm, sleeves 57 cm, length 134 cm, chest 95-100 cm, waist 100 cm.
