A Printed Cotton Fabric From Le Bon Marché Featuring Birds Of Paradise - France, Circa 1910-1920
Circa 1910-1920, France. A precious "exotic" printed cotton fabric with an Au Bon Marché label, dating from the early Art Deco period in France. The designs are inspired by Paul Poiret's Atelier Martine, featuring delicate prints of country bouquets and birds of paradise on vertical green and petrol blue stripes, reminiscent of Georges Lepape's neoclassical style (see Georges Lepape's "Les Choses de Paul Poiret," 1911). A generous length in two sewn panels, each 82 cm wide. No flaws. Very fine condition in terms of color and preservation. Dimensions: 148 cm x 167 cm.
