"Roche: Large Solid Silver Stewing Spoon, Coat Of Arms Of Grenoble, 1751-52"
Exceptional and rare Louis XV period solid silver Grenoble stew spoon in the "filettes" pattern. The spoon is engraved with a cartouche bearing a coat of arms surmounted by a Count's crown. It bears the charge and discharge marks for Grenoble 1750-56, the guild mark for Grenoble 1751-52 (the date letter "G" surmounted by two dolphins), and the mark of the master silversmith Ennemond III Roche, who was admitted to work in Grenoble in 1740. Roche left Grenoble in 1754 to settle in Bordeaux. This exceptional Grenoble stew spoon is in very good condition and of a very fine size (over 200 grams), adorned with a coat of arms and very well hallmarked. For the discerning collector...
