Rare large Rouen Wine Taster in solid silver from the 18th century, plain and swollen model, border engraved "J. Hebert". Thumb rest cut with very beautiful engraving representing a blindfolded Angelot (with quiver and arrows) holding a heart in one hand and a "Greyhound" on a leash in the other, all topped with the engraving "LA FIDELITE ME CONDUIT" framed by flowers. Charge hallmarks (Crowned B) and Discharge (basket) for ROUEN 1775-81, Common House hallmark for ROUEN 1777 (Crowned S) and Hallmarks (on body and grip) of Master Goldsmith Mathieu Pierre Michel LAMOUREUX received in 1763. Piece re-checked with the Guarantee Title Hallmarks for Dpts 1809-19.
